Something I have been thinking about for about 3 years is removing myself from the YouTube community. It’s hard to believe that I have been doing YouTube for close to 15 years. I have created and deleted several channels and uploaded hundreds of videos. And truth be known, the amount of work is never equal to any money you might receive. There is a book I haven’t read yet, although I got it on my kindle, its called the Company of One by Paul Jarvis but for me the title explains my working on YouTube perfectly.

Yes, I have made money, but even when it was about 300 USD a month, you were putting in more hours than you would have in a full-time job. You have to plan a video, write a script, plan shots, film yourself, and then edit it. Now, the more successful YouTubers can farm out much of that work, but the average girl or guy has to do it themselves.
For me, after all these years, I got tired of watching myself age through the lens, an aging actor without Hollywood. I have seen the small Philippine genre explode with hundreds of middle-aged men and women talking about the same subjects over and over again. And that’s the thing about YouTube, you eventually run out of topics, it’s like climbing a mountain, you work hard to get to the top, and once you get there, now what do you do?
At this moment, I only have one YouTube channel left, and it will be my last one. It’s about me, a dude in his 60s picking up the sport of running. Allow me a little self-promotion here. Here is the YouTube Channel, and the website is BillRuns.
How long will this YouTube channel last? Who knows, right now I think there are only 7 or 8 subscribers, and the genre— senior citizens picking up running in their mid-60s — is a pretty small group. I am not even sure how long I will be able to run, but God willing, I will be able to influence someone to pick up the sport.

That is really my goal, to encourage some senior to pick up the sport. Of course, I will try to make some money off it to offset the cost of web hosting, etc., but I don’t need it. Well I take that last statement back, everybody needs money it’s just not my driving force behind the YouTube channel or the website.
As for this website, the Bill’s Journal, I will try to motor on, one post at a time.
